Casa Melo Alvim

Casa Melo Alvim Hotel is in the historic centre of Viana do Castelo. It is the oldest urban manor house in the town, having been built in 1509 in the Manueline style. This manor house was restored with dignity and transformed into a comfortable and welcoming hotel. Nowadays, it’s member of Unlock Boutique Hotels, a collection of boutique hotels in Portugal.

The hotel has a total of 20 rooms and suites, where the architectural richness, and the historic and cultural background, were carefully preserved in the restoration project and the adaptation of the house. There were details that were highlighted and ambiences that were specially created for the guest to follow the different periods of the Portuguese architectural history.

With the unique feature that there are no two rooms the same, each room has been decorated individually in the traditional Portuguese styles of the 17th and 18th centuries, from the Neoclassical to the Portuguese Rustic, passing through the Baroque. We can find furniture from every era of noble and exotic wood and materials, offering a comfortable, convenient and exquisite atmosphere.
